I think it probably due to most professionals knowing that they must be trained and licensed to enter the business. Think about if anyone could become a doctor? What a mess that would be. It's like carpentry, in many states you need a license as a carpenter or contractor, but a "handyman" can do the same thing cheaper without a license. Some handymen are good, but some are fly-by-night organizations that will take your deposit and disappear, or they can't be found when you have a leaking roof. But, there are two sides to every coin.
